Ah, to be alive. What an incredible gift.

Did you know the chance of you being having been born at all is about one in 400 trillion?

How crazy is that?

If you really meditate on that, the world around you becomes nothing short of a miracle.

Of course in a few moments the urge of something mundane will snap you out of this incredible miracle and bring you back to the humdrum of human existence. ‘I’m hungry, what will I have for dinner tonight?’

We are interesting creatures, us humans. Our brains have evolved like layers and layers of an interestingly flavoured cake. The most basic ingredients at the core and the more complex, cultured and creative encased at the very end.

This human experience is a wild ride. It’s a spectrum, and we never know what event will spark where we end up next.

When times are tough, I like to remind myself of a quote that Eckhart Tolle once said, “The world is not here to make you happy, the world is here to make you conscious.”

This helps me pull my focus away from happiness and onto ‘what is this situation trying to teach me?’

It makes me realise that life is about evolving, and growing. The search for constant summer in a world of changing seasons is futile. Life is change. We cannot know light unless we’ve seen dark. We all must face the ebbs and flows of life.
